Story Time
The belief is simple. A smile has the ability to drastically change the course of someone’s day.
The SHARE A SMILE Project initially began as a personal challenge. The goal was to share a single smile each day with a stranger, a friend, or a loved one. This was my way of living in the moment and trying to spread positivity.
Some days were definitely harder than others, but what I learned was that even the smallest gesture of kindness can have a substantial impact.
In order to remind myself of my challenge, I used to write “Share a Smile” on sticky notes and put them on various surfaces I looked at often. This led me to create the original SHARE A SMILE sticker, which I then put on my laptop case and water bottle. Every time I saw one of my stickers I was re-energized to continue sharing smiles no matter what mood I was in.
While I sat in college classrooms, the library, and even coffee shops, I noticed that as people read my sticker, they also began to smile. So I made more stickers and began passing them out, and made an effort to include others in my daily challenge by encouraging them to also go out and share a smile.
One thing led to another, and now here we are.
So if you’ve read this far, I now challenge you to go out and do the same, share a smile and spread kindness every chance you get.
